Coding rules

This indicator is a reconciled V-Dem version based on Gleditsch and Ward's (1999) initial list of independent states. For more details and sources see Coppedge et al. 2021, 191. Note that V-Dem treats some entities differently than the Correlates of War-project which is the base of WeSIS' entity list.
