The year of introduction of the first law concerning the regulation of contracts, e.g. protection, concerning subordinate, remunerated employment or typical aspects thereof by a national government. Legislation covered shows that the employment relationship or any of its aspects have been regulated distinctly from other forms of private (civil or common) law. Legislation without protective aspects (e.g. Master & Servant legislation regulating indentured labour) has not been coded. Legislation is coded for nation states and their legal predecessors or characterising parts thereof.
