Coding rules

This section shall report all coding rules and decisions underlying the data collection. For unmodified (!) indicators from other sources than your own collection within the CRC, e.g. statistical data from the OECD, WHO, World Bank etc. simply refer to their documentation, i.e. you do not have to spell out "their" coding rules. However, if you compiled a harmonized time-series from different sources, you may spell out here how you did it. Also keep in mind that WeSISpedia is a "codebook" and foremost describes the data found in WeSIS. If there is a need for a lengthy documentation, e.g. page-long country specific notes and rules, think about writing a Technical Paper and then quote yourself here.

Bibliographic info

Citation: Here you claim or give credits for a specific operationalization if it is presented in published work. Add hyperlinks to articles, pdfs and the like if possible (doi preferable).

Related publications: Here you claim or give credits to related publications, i.e. cite the work of others if the indicator or operationalization is related to their works and references have been made in the description. Add hyperlinks to articles, pdfs and the like if possible (doi preferable).

Note: This section is for credit claiming and giving. It differs from sources as the section below lists all material used for compiling an indicator. An example: there is an index of electoral fractionalization of the party system proposed by Golosov in 2011 which, in turn, is an extended index from Rae 1968. Thus, the desciption of the indicator refers to Golosov and, accordingly, shall be entered as "Citation". Rae 1968 could/should be entered as "Related Publications". Under "Sources" various documents may be listed used for collecting the actual data that made it possible to estimate the indicator.

Misc

Project manager(s): Add the responsible person and project in brackets (PI). Here, you may also give credits to all people (especially student assistants!) involved in the data collection.

Data release: This section will include information regarding the publication of the focal indicator in different versions of WeSIS. This needs to be filled later on. Example: "The indicator is included in WeSIS rev. 1 to rev. 8 and 10, but not in rev. 9

Revisions: This section shall report any changes and/or corrections made to the data, e.g. different estimation, interpolation techniques, correction of wrong data, new sources and related changes etc. Example: "Wrong data for Gabun in rev. 1 was corrected in rev. 2."
