This indicator measures current spending on health by private insurance financing schemes in national currency units and current prices following the OECD System of Health Accounts (SHA). Private insurance financing schemes are health insurance schemes that do not qualify as social insurance either because there is no mandate involved or because the scheme allows for risk-rated premiums or the exclusion of benefits due to pre-existing conditions.
