This indicator measures the expenditure on the health care function “outpatient long-term care (health)” (SHA HC.3.3) in million national currency units following the System of Health Accounts (SHA; OECD et al. 2011). Outpatient long-term care is composed of hospital outpatient departments, primary health care and community-based health care facilities, including day centres. The method of estimation is a listing of facilities available in a country to provide support and inpatient/outpatient care for people with dementia provided by the national authority's response.
