This indicator measures the expenditure on the health care function inpatient long-term care (health) (HC.3.1) in million national currency units following the System of Health Accounts (SHA; OECD et al. 2011). Expenditure refers to the payments related to final consumption of all health care goods and services by the resident units. Inpatient long-term care (health) comprises long-term care (health) services provided in a health care facility (hospital, nursing home) and requiring an overnight stay with medical supervision. The package of services covers nursing and/or personal care, usually provided together, along with a range of other components such as accommodation and support services.
