The Gini Coefficient measures income inequality of a population. Generally, the Gini Coefficient measures a area between a hypothetical line (absolute equal distribution of income) and the Lorenz curve. This indicator is based on the calculations of the Luxembourg Income Study Database (LIS).
Coding rules
The Gini Coeffizient ranges between "0" and "1". "1" refers to a complete unequal distribution of income and "0" to a complete equal distribution of income.
