The Gini Coefficient measures income inequality of a population. Generally, the Gini Coefficient measures a area between a hypothetical line (absolute equal distribution of income) and the Lorenz curve. This indicator is based on the calculations of the World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNI-WIDER).


Coding rules

The Gini Coeffizient ranges between "0" and "1". "1" refers to a complete unequal distribution of income and "0" to a complete equal distribution of income.
