The Gini coefficient measures income inequality of a population. Generally, the Gini coefficient measures an area between a hypothetical line (absolute equal distribution of income) and the Lorenz curve. This indicator is based on the calculations of the World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER).
Coding rules
- The Gini coefficient ranges between "0" and "1". "1" refers to a complete unequal distribution of income and "0" to a complete equal distribution of income.
