Related indicators

This indicator reflects inequality based on the gender in three dimensions: reproductive health, empowerment and labour market. The Gender Inequality Index is built similiar to the Humand Development Index but shows differences between women and men better.

Coding rules

Reproductive health is measured by maternal mortality rates and adolescent birth rates; empowerment by the proportion of adult females and males aged 25+ with some secondary education and proportion of parliamentary seats occupied of women and men; labour market by the labour force participation rate of both populations aged 15+.
