Description*	"Total population ages 65 and above" as a percentage of the total population is calculated based on the de facto definition of population.
Coding rules	This variable measures the population ages 65 and above as a percentage of the total population. The age structure in the World Bank's population estimates is derived from the United Nations Population Division's World Population Prospects. The total population is based on the de facto population, which includes all residents, regardless of their legal status or citizenship. The figures presented are midyear estimates.<br> Teorell et al. (2024:1572) defines the variable as "Population ages 65 and above as a percentage of the total population. Population is based on the de facto definition of population, which counts all residents regardless of legal status or citizenship."
