|description = This indicator describes all trade flows in goods between countries in the period 1870-continuous. Due to different time coverage of individual sources and different degrees of detail, this indicator is a compilation of data from multiple sources. Due to the availability of data, only data from the Correlates of War database will be used for the period 1870-1948. From this year onwards, the databases of the World Trade Organisation, United Nations and World Bank will be used in an additive and/or substituting manner in order to ensure maximum temporal coverage and completeness. All concerned data sets were jointly reviewed and evaluated by interdisciplinary scientists within task forces within the CRC 1342 to ensure the highest possible data quality.
